[Free full audiobook] The Waking Tree

The audiobook version of my book “The Waking Tree” is on YouTube. 

I must say: It’s quite intoxicating. Hypnotic. 

When I wrote “The Waking Tree” in the late 1990s, my intention was to write an epic prose poem. 

The editors and literary agents who gave me feedback on the story I’d submitted for publication said the book was too poetic. 

Too much poetry? 

Perhaps.

I set it aside.

It’s been 25 years since I wrote this story, and spending the last few weeks with it again as I make audio versions of it, I have to say I disagree with their assessments. For this story ~ a ghost story told by a tree ~ it’s exactly the right amount of poetry.
